 The port side gudgeon which has a “curved” shape at the end which was attached to the round cylinder with the hole in it.

 At the end of the port gugdeon there was a large section of lead sheeting attached. The lead sheeting had the same bronze copper nails which the hull copper sheering had to attach them to the hull. Note the matching lengths and iron nail positions
